Crazy skies

Last Monday Autumn officially started and on that day the weather changed. The humidity has gone, the air is cooler and sun isn't as hot. After a few days of high wind, today is calm and the sky is decorated with a variety of crazy clouds. Maybe it'll rain later, probably not.

It's 7.15am and heading out from Rose Bay I have to stop and just take in the scene. Mirror-glass water reflecting a mass of grey tinged fluffy clouds shading a blue sky and the morning sun. I'm going across the harbour to Obelisk Bay which faces the Heads, the entrance to the harbour. Once again there's no wind and it's perfectly flat. The cloudy sky produces a weird polarising light that makes it feel even stiller. I pass another cruise liner on the way. This one is small, a Saga Holidays boat full of old grannies.

At Obelisk Bay the nudist are out already, there's not much sun to bask in. The beach here is a designated spot for nudists to do their thing... I don't think I'll land here today. Off back now, zoom across the water in front of the ferries, past the fishing men in their tinnies, past Shark Island to Rose Bay to join the 9am traffic on New South Head Road.
